Teeth whitening treatments at our Totowa, NJ, dental practice can brighten your smile by up to seven shades in just one office visit. At Perfect Smiles, LLC, we offer both in-office and take-home treatment. Both options are very effective, but one may be better suited to your budget or lifestyle. Our dentists, Dr. Ryan Maher and Dr. Joe Olechowski, use whitening products designed to minimize sensitivity. The simple treatment can have far-reaching effects on your appearance and your confidence.
Are You a Candidate for Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening is appropriate if you have minor to moderate external dental stains. This is the most common type of staining, and typically develops because of certain elements in your diet. When you regularly eat dark-colored foods, like berries, or drink heavily pigmented beverages, such as coffee or red wine, your teeth can become dull and discolored over time. Smoking, age, and other factors can have similar effects.
Whitening will significantly brighten your teeth, helping you look years younger and enhancing the rest of your facial features.
In contrast, teeth whitening will not be effective on intrinsic stains. Often the result of a dental infection or medications, these darker stains are located deep within teeth. Fortunately, Dr. Maher or Dr. Olechowski can often conceal this type of discoloration with porcelain veneers.
To qualify for whitening or any cosmetic dentistry treatment, your teeth and gums must be healthy. If you have gum disease, cavities, or related concerns, you will need appropriate care before you can begin brightening your smile.
In-Office Teeth Whitening
We proudly offer Zoom! in-office teeth whitening, one of the most popular and trusted methods available. With this treatment, your dental professional will isolate your teeth and place a protective barrier over your gums. Then he will coat your teeth in a bleaching agent. After 15 minutes, your dentist or hygienist will remove the first layer and apply a second coat of gel. Typically, we will provide a third application for the most dramatic results possible.
We proudly offer Zoom! in-office teeth whitening
In-office care does cost more than take-home whitening. We charge $499, and financing options are available. At the same time, however, this method offers significant benefits. The entire treatment will take about 45 minutes, and the results will be immediately apparent.
NiteWhite, also created by Philips Zoom!, offers comparable results to in-office teeth whitening. When you opt for this method, your dentist will fit you with a set of custom whitening trays. Made from impressions of your teeth, their snug design will be comfortable and also keep the whitening gel from touching your gums. The gel will be deposited inside the trays, which you will wear overnight. The whitening action is similar to the in-office process, and the bleaching gel will chemically break down stains. In most cases, you will need to wear the trays for two weeks, but, occasionally, your treatment will take slightly longer.
Though NiteWhite takes longer than in-office treatment, it may be a good option if you are on a budget. At Perfect Smiles, LLC, take-home whitening costs just $299.
The Benefits of Teeth Whitening
Whichever method of whitening you decide on, the treatment can have important effects on your appearance and quality of life. First, of course, it will significantly brighten your teeth, giving you a smile that is shades whiter. In turn, your grin may help you look years younger, and it will certainly enhance the rest of your facial features. Second, with your brighter grin, you may feel much more confident. You may be more likely to take on visible leadership roles at work, and you will be more eager to share your smile with others.
